Big Idea: People have some agency over their happiness (emotional experiences).
Exhibition Goals: This exhibition bridged neuroscience and psychology to invite visitors to explore their emotional experiences. It introduced how brain activity relates to our bodies and environments, and how our emotional experiences are made up of many factors. There was also a major focus on what tools and techniques we can use to impact our own emotions (while also recognizing that we can't control everything).
We leaned on visitors, asking them to tap into their vulnerability, to create a decent portion of the in-gallery content. They wrote or drew stories of challenges or positive experiences, to share with others. These responses were overwhelmingly thoughtful, open, and generous -- adding a rich layer to the science content. This aspect revealed the intense strength in the community, even in the face of adversity.
