Zea/Corvus/Homo 1

Holes in the Wall Collective held a residency program which led to a group show, showcasing emergent outdoor installations on a retired corn field in New Jerusalem, PA. Artists lived and worked on the land for one week, reflecting on the theme of Corn. Zea/Corvus/Homo 1 explores the effects of the human-made monocrop cultivation process.

The bird feeders have fiber optic tassels on top-- visually similar to the pollination tassel on corn stalks. The fiber optic tassel emits a color that represents the nutrient quality of the soil of the specific site (white, green, blue). Each tassel light is powered by the earth.
